Chen emphasized that, population ageing was not only the problem of the seniors, but an issue would influence on every single person and family. The ageing issue was directly related to economic increase, political stabilization and social development. For those who worked for the ageing undertaking, first of all, they should solve the most concerned, direct and important problems for the seniors on the ground of real situation; second, research the existing and coming problems in senior¡¯s lives so to find out the resolution in the field of legislation, mechanism, system, organization and construction; third, develop the ageing-related industries and drive service market for the aged.
During the investigation, Chen had reviewed carefully on the ageing-in-place program, and integrative old-age support in urban and rural areas in Xuanwu, Gulou and Jiangning district. He affirmed the pioneer position of Nanjing¡¯s ageing work after listening the relevant report. At the same time, he pointed out ageing work on grass-root played a crucial role in the work of the government. So it was necessary to take good use of community and every effective resource to provide better services for the seniors.
At last, Chen suggested ageing departments of Jiangsu to explore and establish demonstrative nursing homes in various models, so to make more contribution for China¡¯s ageing undertaking.
