Under the guidance of CNCA, organized by Elderly Chinese Newspaper and Zhejiang Jinhua Tourism Bureau, the 12th National Culture and Recreation Festival for Mid-and-Senior People of China's Ageless Town (Hengdian China) was opened in Sun Town of Hengdian, Zhejiang Province. This activity was undertaken by China's Ageless Town Development Center of Elderly Chinese Newspaper, Dongyang City Tourism Bureau, Hengdian Sun Town, Hengdian Media Town, Hangzhou Dacheng Staff Tourism Company, which will be held during October 23rd to 27th. 1,500 middle-aged and senior citizens of nationwide came to celebrate this festival in Hengdian.
The theme of the festival is ''to cherish life, to share success of Olympic Games, to share achievement of opening-up reform, to share harmonious society''. Chen Chuanshu, the standing vice president of CNCA, presented at the activity and declared for the opening ceremony. Li Yaodong, the chief editor of Elderly Chinese Newspaper, addressed the opening speech for the ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, each contest site began to present the six categories of performances, including Yangge, costume show, dancing, chorus, shadow boxing, flexible ball. The elderly performers have shown their healthy and optimistic minds through their fabulous gestures in all forms of native features. ''Ageless Town Cup'', ''Sun Town Cup'' and many other single awards were set for the winners. There were about 5,000 people attending the festival, including the cadres of related departments and local people.
